Don’t forget your dose!
Why you’re cheating yourself when you don’t take CBD daily.
It’s often hard to take care of ourselves as well as we should. These days we all seem to be running around, working too hard, eating the wrong foods, and not getting enough sleep. While these are often bad habits we can learn to manage and improve upon, sometimes our bodies need a little extra help, which is where CBD comes in.
CBD and other cannabinoids act upon an internal system present in mammals known as the Endocannabinoid System (sometimes referred to as the ECS for short). The ECS is a complex network within us that can help to regulate activity in almost all areas of the body, from the way we process emotional responses, to how we feel pain and even how we produce different types of skin cells. The human body naturally produces its own cannabinoids, referred to as endocannabinoids, but these sometimes naturally wane or fail to provide the level of support the body needs. We can offset these diminished levels by introducing external cannabinoids into our system through items such as tinctures, salves, and edibles. But like anything we do to improve our wellbeing, whether that be drinking water, consuming vitamins or even getting a good night’s sleep, consistency and the amount is imperative for success.
In order for CBD to be effective in promoting homeostasis (a fancy term for maintaining the status quo throughout the various internal systems in the body), it needs to be taken at sufficient levels and on a consistent daily basis. CBD can often take several days to weeks to build up to an effective level in the body initially, and any time you forget to take your daily dose you are simply delaying its efficacy in aiding you.
In addition, Cannabinoids often only last for a limited period of time, usually in the range of four to twelve hours after consumption, so it’s important to accurately gauge how much and how often you need to take on a personal basis and according to your own specific needs. If you suffer from chronic pain due to ongoing arthritis you may need to dose more frequently than someone looking for a way to help balance emotional responses.
So how do you ensure you consume the right amount of cannabinoids and do so on a daily basis? Follow these simple steps for an easy and effective method to consistent and effective dosing:
- First you should determine the best product for you. What kind of issues are you looking to address or treat? Do you already have an idea of whether tinctures, edibles of creams are best for your situation? If you’re ever unsure you can always reach out to one of our friendly and educated CBD experts. We can answer any questions you might have, while offering a wide variety of product options that will best suit your needs.
- Once you’ve selected and acquired the right cannabinoid items for you it’s obviously time to try them out. Most of our CBD products are not going to have significant impacts from a psychoactive point of view, and when we say that we specifically mean they won’t make you “high” like marijuana might. That being said, it’s always important when initially using a cannabinoid product that you try it at home, or somewhere where you feel comfortable, in order to see how you respond. Because each person is different, results and effects can vary. Always start with a low dose initially, and wait for a period of time to see it how impacts you. Don’t rush to consume too much immediately, you can always increase your subsequent doses if you are looking for a stronger response. Avoid operating any machinery or driving a vehicle until you see how you feel after the initial dose. Don’t worry though, cannabinoids almost certainly won’t impact your ability to continue with your usual activities or lifestyle, so you’ll still be able to drive and do everything you normally would. But just to be safe, we recommend you wait to see how you react initially. Remember to always consult with a doctor beforehand if you have any concerns or questions.
- Once you’ve found a product and dose that suits your needs and lifestyle, the only thing you have left to worry about is taking it on a regular basis. Like we mention above, consistent and accurate dosing is the key to maintaining homeostasis within the ECS. If you find you’re forgetting doses, try to tie your consumption habits in with other essential daily activities you won’t skip. You know you’re going to get into bed to go to sleep every night, so why not leave that salve on your bedside table. Keep forgetting your tincture every morning? Why not have it sitting next to your toothbrush so you see it when you brush your teeth. Didn’t remember your CBD edibles today? Don’t fret, because you have them sitting next to the fridge, so you’ll see them when you make lunch.
Finding a great cannabinoid product that works for you is obviously important, but that’s something that we can easily help you accomplish. What we can’t do is oversee your daily cannabinoid consumption. So, determine a dose and schedule that works for you and stick to it, that way you can consistently provide the cannabinoids that you and your ECS need.
